Oilfield Preventive Maintenance
Our PM programs can be built around the equipment you actually operate and backed by digital scheduling, service records, and equipment-specific history.
Preventive Maintenance Built Around Your Equipment
Oilfield equipment rarely fails at a convenient time.
Mondak Equipment provides preventive maintenance for drilling rigs, workover rigs, iron roughnecks, top drives, power swivels, hydraulic catwalks, HPUs, and other oilfield equipment.
The goal: catch developing problems while there is still time to deal with them instead of waiting for the equipment to decide when the repair happens.
More Than an Oil Change and a Checklist
Preventive maintenance should tell you something about the condition of the machine.
Depending on the equipment, Mondak may inspect and service areas such as:
- Hydraulic oil and filtration
- Hoses, fittings, and hard lines
- Hydraulic cylinders
- Pumps and motors
- Valves and manifolds
- Engines and cooling systems
- Bearings
- Chains and sprockets
- Pins and bushings
- Rollers and wear points
- Electrical wiring and connections
- Sensors and controls
- Fluid leaks
- Mechanical looseness or alignment
- Developing component failures
We are looking for what needs attention now, what should be planned for, and what is changing over time.
Equipment-Specific PM Schedules
A workover rig should not have the same maintenance program as an iron roughneck or hydraulic power unit.
Mondak uses Tinnacity to help manage equipment-specific preventive maintenance schedules and service records.
Individual pieces of equipment can have their own PM program and maintenance checklist, helping us keep the maintenance tied to the actual machine instead of relying on a generic schedule.
This can be used for equipment such as:
- Workover and well-service rigs
- Drilling rigs
- Iron roughnecks
- Top drives
- Power swivels
- Hydraulic catwalks
- Hydraulic power units
- Other hydraulic and oilfield support equipment
Scan the Equipment to Request Service
One feature we particularly like is the ability to assign an equipment-specific QR code.
The QR code stays with the machine.
If someone in the field finds a problem, they can scan the code with a phone and request service for that piece of equipment without having to search for serial numbers or figure out exactly how it is listed in the system. Tinnacity's QR system can automatically tie the request to the correct asset, and a basic service request can be submitted from a phone without installing an app.
That gives the person standing next to the equipment a direct path to getting help.
See a problem. Scan the equipment. Request service.
Service History That Stays With the Machine
Good maintenance records become more valuable as equipment gets older.
Authorized customer users with a Tinnacity login can be given access to equipment information and service history, including completed work-order records.
That helps create a history around the individual machine:
- Previous PM work
- Repairs performed
- Recurring problems
- Components that have been replaced
- Work-order history
- Maintenance trends
If a hose has failed three times, a pump has been replaced recently, or the same problem keeps showing up, having that history available gives us a better place to start.
Find Problems Before They Become Breakdowns
Preventive maintenance gives us the opportunity to see equipment while it is still operating.
That is when we may find:
- A hose beginning to rub
- A bearing developing play
- A cylinder starting to leak
- A chain or sprocket wearing
- A hydraulic system running hotter than normal
- Contamination in the oil
- Loose wiring or connections
- A cooling problem developing
- Mechanical wear that is beginning to affect alignment
Not every finding means the equipment needs to be shut down immediately.
Some repairs need attention now. Others can be planned around the operation.
That is one of the main benefits of getting ahead of the failure.
If We Find a Problem, We Can Help Fix It
Mondak is not only performing the inspection.
If a PM identifies a hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, engine, or control problem, we already have the equipment-repair capabilities to take the next step.
That can include:
- Troubleshooting
- Hydraulic repair
- Mechanical repair
- Electrical diagnostics
- Diesel engine repair
- Cylinder repair
- Hose and line replacement
- Machining
- Welding and fabrication
- Obsolete component replacement
- Field repair
The inspection and repair do not have to be two completely separate conversations.
Most of the Work Happens Where the Equipment Is
Oilfield equipment is large, and much of it is not practical to bring to a shop for routine maintenance.
Mondak performs preventive maintenance in the field where the equipment is working.
That also gives our technicians an opportunity to see the machine in its actual operating environment and identify issues that may not be obvious once the equipment is removed from service.
If a component needs more extensive rebuilding, machining, or shop work, that individual repair can be handled separately.
Getting Started
1. Identify the Equipment
We can start with the equipment you want included in the maintenance program.
2. Build the PM Schedule
Maintenance intervals and checklists can be set around the type of equipment and how it is being used.
3. Keep the History With the Machine
PM work, repairs, and service history are documented so there is a record to refer back to when the next issue comes up.
Equipment-specific QR codes can also make requesting service from the field much easier.
Want to Get Ahead of Equipment Repairs?
Whether you have a few critical pieces of equipment or a larger fleet, Mondak can help put together a practical preventive maintenance program.
Keep the maintenance scheduled. Keep the service history with the machine. And when something needs attention, make it easy to get help.
