We Diagnose the Powertrain as a System
A transmission fault does not automatically mean the transmission needs to come out.
A machine that will not move may involve:

Modern powertrains depend on electrical and electronic controls. Faulty sensors, wiring, controllers, solenoids or communication circuits can create symptoms that look like a major mechanical failure.

Why isn't reading a fault code enough to diagnose a diesel engine?
A fault code identifies a condition the control system detected. It doesn't always identify the component that caused the condition.
For example, a sensor code could result from the sensor itself, wiring, power supply, communication problems or an actual mechanical condition. Testing is required to separate those possibilities.
What does Mondak do when a diesel engine won't start?
We work through the systems required for the engine to start: electrical power, cranking speed, fuel delivery, air, engine controls, sensor inputs and mechanical condition.
The objective is to identify why the engine won't start rather than simply replacing the most expensive component associated with the fault code.
Why does specialized diagnostic equipment matter on heavy equipment?
Many manufacturers provide functions that generic scanners cannot access. Manufacturer-specific systems can provide additional data, component tests, calibration functions, system information and diagnostic procedures.
That becomes particularly important with specialized or imported equipment.
Can Mondak diagnose European diesel equipment?
Yes. European equipment can use different engine controls, communication systems, emissions configurations and component specifications than typical North American equipment.
Mondak has invested in diagnostic equipment for machines outside the standard local equipment mix.
Can Mondak work on Scania engines used in cranes?
Yes. Scania engines are found in some European machinery, including cranes operating in this region. Proper diagnosis can require equipment and software capable of communicating with those systems.
This is an example of why Mondak has invested in broader diagnostic coverage instead of limiting itself to the most common North American equipment.
What types of drivetrain components does Mondak repair?
We repair engines, transmissions, gearboxes, axles, differentials, third members, final drives, transfer cases, PTO systems and wet kits.
How do you determine whether a transmission should be rebuilt or replaced?
The unit needs to be diagnosed and inspected to determine what failed and what condition the remaining components are in.
A rebuild may make sense when the core is serviceable and parts are available. Replacement may make more sense when damage is extensive or a reliable replacement unit is available.
Can Mondak rebuild a drivetrain component instead of replacing it?
When the component is rebuildable and parts are available, rebuilding can be an economical alternative to purchasing a new assembly.
